We passed Minirva Reef last night at about midnight. It is actually a seamount 250 miles from Tonga. The reef is circular and four miles in diameter and you can anchor with quite good protection. Three of our friends were anchored but we didn't stop because we had wind and didn't want to waste it (plus it was dark and thus too dangerous to enter).
We have been sailing all day at 3 to 4.5 knots. Seas are less than three feet so it's been pretty pleasant. So far we've come 350 miles with 750 left to go. We're hoping the wind gods continue to look kindly upon us.
Tom's quote of the day "Come to think of it, why drink Gatorade when I can have a beer?".
